On Thursday 2nd May 2019, we went on Residential at Dartmouth. When we got there, we went on a walk, had a safety check, did activities and met the 2 dogs- Monty and Billy.

Firstly, we went to our tents and set up our porches as well as our sleeping bags. All the girls went in 1 tent together. Our tent name was Holly.

Next, we made toasting forks for our breakfast the next day. We whittled the stick and cut it. We held our toast above the fire and had a choice of any spread (I had butter and jam).

In the afternoon, we made homemade pizza. We made them in groups of three and cooked them in a homemade oven!

We also ate:

    • Bushcraft broth
    • beans and bread
    • Sausages
    • Toast
    • Homemade pizza

In the evening, we did a night walk. We had to sense and hear what was in the dark which was very interesting.

After our sleep, we had breakfast and went on the zip wire. I was really nervous, but when I got on, I flew rapidly above camp. I really enjoyed it and wanted to do it again straight away.

The thing that surprised me most was that I loved all the foods that I have never tried before!

My favourite part was sitting next to the fire with hot chocolate in the evening.

For advice, I will say “It’s really fun once you get there, they don’t force you to do anything, just try!”
