Week 2-The Tiger Who Came to Tea!

The children have been enjoying lots of stories this week. Popular ones being Naughty Bird and The Day Louis got Eaten. Some of the children have asked to bring these books home to share with you at home so look out for them in book bags.
We have also focused on learning to spell some new words. The Year Ones have been learning to spell the, he, she, my, we, I, you and was. Some practise of these over the weekend would be really helpful.
The children have also started some joined up handwriting which they have been really enthusiastic about. Matilda wrote her first joined up word 'the' and was rightly very proud of herself.
In our English learning we shared The Tiger Who Came to Tea and the children have enjoyed making puppets and performing their plays, dressing up and changing parts of the story to make their own stories. The Year Two's chose different animals to visit for tea. We had pigs, mice, cats and even a dragon!
I have begun to gather bits and bobs for a dressing up box (which the children love) if you are out and about at boot sales, charity shops etc I am looking for real clothes for dressing up (not bought costumes) like hats, waistcoats, old handbags, ties, shawls, cloaks etc.

Forest School today was wonderful. We collected a meagre amount of blackberries but still managed to create some jam on a fire. It was so lovely to see the children enjoying the woods again. A lovely way to end a busy week.  Photographs to follow later...
