Gruffalo and Rosie

We’ve had a fantastic week! We have finished off some learning on the Gruffalo after it became apparent on Friday that not everyone was really sure about the reasoning for some key concepts in the story. We then moved onto starting to look at Rosie’s walk on Thursday and Friday. We have begun to consider the story of the fox and have collectively composed a story for the naughty fox! Some of us have also worked on sequencing and writing sections of the fox story and we will continue to look at this into next week.

We had a lovely walk through the forest on Wednesday and had fun exploring for things which matched specific words we were given.

We have had a lot of time to settle into school now and from next week I am asking that all children/grownups refrain from brining in toys from home. These can become distractions for children and their peers and there is also a risk of losing them or damage. To make up for this loss, we will be starting a specific ‘show and tell’ session on a Friday. On this day children will be encouraged to bring in 1 item from home which will be kept in a special box out of reach throughout the day with the exception of our show and tell session when we can present it and talk about it to our peer group. This is a great way to boost confidence, communication and listening skills and also allows children to still explore the concepts of bringing in the things they love from home.
